Project Location: San Marcos, TX
Date Completed: July 2005
Owner: Genlyte Group/Gardco Lighting
Architect: TAG International
Square Feet: 267,000
This project is a 267,000 square foot, tiltwall building with approximately 50,000 square feet of finished space and associated sitework for the Genlyte Group, a light fixture manufacturer and distribution company. Features of the design included 50-foot clear space between interior columns so as not to interfere with the Owner's manufacturing process, minimum 30-foot clear height ceilings throughout the building due to large quantities of high rack storage, and four truck courts to accommodate Genlyte's shipping and receiving needs. Unique architectural features include zinc composite wall panels, a steel-framed radiused stair complete with stainless steel railing and panels, and a matching furred down sheet rock ceiling.
From the start, He invested a large amount of time and resource to fully understand the scope of our project. They worked collaboratively with our selected architect and project manager, as well, of course, as our General Managers and VP of Operations of our corporate office. After construction began, they overcame a large hurdle when it was decided that a California based sister company would also occupy the building. Redesign changes during construction were necessary to make this happen.
