This 36,134 square foot project is Dropbox's second office located in downtown Austin, Texas. It was designed with many of the cloud-based company's San Francisco headquarters design principles that focus on a high energy "newsroom" concept. This open-office design maximizes functionality and allows for high energy and creativity amongst its employees. The design includes open ceilings in all office areas with exposed custom oval ductwork and polished concrete flooring. The open space plan was logically organized to be inviting and productive. Team groupings of open workstations and centralized social spaces line the glazed rectangular perimeter integrated with shared work rooms, interview rooms, informal lounges, and private phone rooms. Some of the shared social spaces include a shuffleboard table, ping pong table, a fully stocked open bar (for afterhours socializing), and at any given time employees can be found cruising around the space on scooters while talking on their headsets. It includes 25,000 SF of workspace and social areas on Level 4; a 3,000 square foot, fully functional and equipment-stocked gymnasium located on the basement level; a 9,500 square foot kitchen and eating area located on the 5th floor where the employees are treated to daily breakfast and lunches provided by Dropbox. The 5th floor also offers an outdoor 1,000 square foot terrace relaxing area on the roof of the building ready for musicians and other entertainment to simply plug into for entertainment.
